Same-sex couples won the right to marry on Monday.
Gov. Chris Gregoire signed a measure legalizing gay marriage in a ceremony in Olympia on Monday. It made Washington the seventh state to legalize same-sex marriage.
A tearful Gregoire announced: “We’re here to make history here in the great state of Washington..This is a very proud day…A day that we did what was right, what was just, what was fair.”

Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, D-Camano Island, said she supports gay marriage legislation in the Senate — giving proponents the 25 votes needed for passage.
The state House already has enough lawmakers in support of the measure to approve it. Gov. Chris Gregoire backs the bill, as well.
Haugen issued announced her support immediately after a two-hour legislative hearing in Olympia about the bill.

The view from our living room Sunday afternoon. The weather downtown and to the south was really overcast and rainy, but it was sunny to the north and there was a rainbow from Queen Anne to Wallingford across Lake Union.

Mount Rainier sunrise from Ingraham Flats
This is a timelapse taken on Friday, 02 September, 2011, from the Ingraham Flats on Mt. Rainier in Washington. Some friends and I attempted a summit of the mountain with International Mountain Guides, but we were unable to reach the top due to high winds.
When we returned to camp after our summit attempt, I set up my GoPro Hero camera to take pictures at five-second intervals. This video represents about two hours of footage of the sunrise over Little Tahoma taken while we rested and prepared for our descent back to Paradise. Toward the end of the video, you might be able to see that the composition of the shot changes. This is due to the sun melting the snow on which the camera was resting.
The people who appear in the video facing away from the camera while standing just to the left of Little Tahoma are peeing.

Two Seattle hip-hop icons team up for the first installment in the “MCs on a Mission” project as Khingz delivers his ode to the Service Board over a beat from BeanOne. Watch the video to hear the full track after Khingz - a long-time tSB mentor - offers a spoken word version of one of the verses.
The MCs on a Mission project benefits the Service Board, a Seattle nonprofit dedicated to empowering high school youth through equal parts leadership development, social justice training, community service and snowboarding.
